EMCOR Facilities Services has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Technician in Suffolk, VA. The Technician will report daily to the EMCOR Site Supervisor and support him to provide quality workmanship and high work standards to maintain a professional working environment. Primary responsibilities of this position are to be responsible for the general maintenance needs at the facility and performing general maintenance to equipment as required. Knowledge of wood working tools such as table saws, circular saws, router and drill press is a plus. Must be capable of building small wood items such as platforms, monitor frames and shipping crates. Must be able to perform QC inspections of other trades and perform various general tasks as assigned. Qualified applicants must be a US Citizen, possess a valid driver’s license, work Mon-Thurs 10 hour shifts and have at least 3 to 5 years of hands on experience in facilities maintenance and dealing with a wide range of general type services. Must possess excellent customer service and communication skills.
| Communicates effectively daily with Site Supervisor or client Facility Manager to determine service needs. Coordinates and supervise client sub-contractors while performing service on site. Maintain a strict PM schedule. |
Performs a wide variety of general corrective maintenance work request. Repairs of Walls, Floors, Doors and any painting and touch up work for beautification of facility. |
Repair and unclog toilets, urinals, replace and maintain electric valve assemblies and repair/maintain sensors for automatic flush kits, as well as all other plumbing related to the facility. |
Responsible for exterior landscape clean/touch up and maintaining specific areas clean and free of debris. Exterior daily inspections of landscape, parking area, parking lots, bollards, lighting, etc. |
Must be able to repair cabinets, doors including closure devices, repair and paint walls and replace carpet squares. Capable of building small wood items such as platforms, monitor frames and shipping crates. |
Attends weekly toolbox safety meetings with Site Supervisor and other associates. Utilizes mandatory safety equipment to perform tasks. Obtains and completes EFS required training. |
Secondary responsibilities include having the knowledge to oversee the daily operations, daily communication with the client, building automation adjustments and managing the maintenance/repair needs at the facility. |
Education (HS Diploma, Under/Graduate Degree, etc.) | HS Diploma |
Business Experience (prior years work/related experience) | 3 – 5 years of experience related to facility maintenance. |
Licenses/Certifications | Valid US driver’s license Must have an active Secret Security Clearance or ability to apply/obtain upon start date. |
Language Skills | Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of organization. |
Technical Qualifications & Skills | Ability to perform various general type maintenance tasks. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence utilizing basic computer skills and ability to communicate via email and internet use. |

Must maintain a strict PM schedule. Must have the ability to maintain the exterior and landscape of the facility as needed. Picking up trash, clearing ground drains, trimming trees/bushes, clearing weeds, etc. |

Assist with the completion of equipment PM’s such as but not limited to air handlers, VAV’s, pumps, lighting, fire life safety, etc. |

The ability to lift 50lbs, climb ladders and ability to walk the facility throughout the day are required. Have the ability to regularly kneel repetitively during shift. Have the ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis. Have the ability to work and maneuver on a variety of terrains. Have the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually normal and an office type setting. May be required to work in confined, restricted and hot areas. Must be willing to work overtime when required. May be required to work holidays and weekends.
