Job Summary

S.A. Comunale is seeking an Equipmit Logistics Coordinator. The primary function of this role is to direct and coordinate the operational activities of Company Construction Equipment including equipment dispatching, pickup, long-term asset utilization & planning, equipment purchases and repair/retire determinations.

 

This position works closely with the Mechanic Shop, Fabrication Shop and Logistics Team.  This job requires the ability and desire to work in a fast-paced multi-tasked environment with a focus towards planning, execution, compliance, management, and administration.  It may require travel to the branch offices administration and to take after hours and emergency phone calls.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Coordinate operation and transfer of equipment between job sites, branches and internal/external repair shops. (scissor lifts, boom lifts, off road equipment, forklifts, and trailers.)
  • Oversee and assist in the assigning of equipment per equipment requests.
  • Understand issues with various types of equipment as it relates to machine downtime and contingency planning.
  • Review equipment availability and capacity based on job starts and demand.
  • Coordinate repair of equipment at other branch locations, as well as corporate branch location.
  • Make recommendations regarding the state of the equipment.
  • Review rentals and off-cost equipment weekly.
  • Negotiate rental pricing for national agreements.
  • Negotiate with vendors to purchase equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Responsible for the management of dispatching process for all deliveries.
  • Work closely with the mechanic shop, fabrication shop, and fleet logistic supervisor regarding shop lifts and any other shop equipment.
  • Coordinate equipment deliveries and pick ups with logistics team.
  • Responsible for the compliance of all DOT Rules and Regulations.
  • Coordinate with logistics team drivers’ DOT hours and communicate assignments to drivers.
  • Monitor and report personnel issues to the VP of Fabrication and Warehousing.
  • Perform periodic auditing of equipment assignments, maintain the equipment list, update the GPS program, and provide reports as needed.
  • Be available to take after-hour and emergency phone calls.
  • Serve as primary contact and communicate with all branch offices regarding needs associated with fleet and equipment.
  • Provide logistics team with required paperwork prior to each assignment, including dispatch sheet and maps.
  • Provide information to Accounts Payable at month end as determined by the AP Coordinator.
  • Work with DOT department verifying compliance as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Logistics.
  • 5+ years’ experience equipment/logistics manager or similar position is required.
  • 2+ years’ experience in a management position is required.
  • Construction industry experience is a plus.
  • Ability to think strategically, make sound decisions, and produce accurate and timely results is required.
  • Significant experience with Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, Teams) applications is required.
