Leader Buyer- Equipment

We are a full-scale electrical contracting company, providing preconstruction services through final- and post-project completion. For both new construction and renovation projects, we offer design-build/design-assist, value engineering, and CAD services, working with biotech, healthcare, commercial, transportation, and technology companies, as well as many government agencies.

The Lead Buyer - Equipment leads tool and rental equipment procurement and coordinates ongoing rental activities in support of project teams and field operations. This position manages tool buyers and rental coordinators, establishes priorities, monitors workloads and service levels, and provides guidance and issue resolution. The role also oversees the procurement of job-specific tools, supplier pricing, purchase orders, delivery commitments, rental requests, and equipment scheduling to help ensure tools and equipment are available when needed.

• Manage, lead, and support tool buyers and rental coordinators.
• Assign work, establish priorities, balance workloads, and coordinate daily purchasing and rental activities.
• Provide coaching, training, procedural guidance, and performance feedback to promote consistent departmental performance.
• Review purchasing and rental activity, resolve escalated issues, and ensure timely support for project teams and field operations.
• Procure job-specific tools as requested by the project team.
• Receive and process requests for rental equipment, gathering the information needed to confirm equipment availability and specifications.
• Assign and schedule rental equipment to meet job requirements while maximizing utilization and cost-effectiveness.
• Negotiate tool and rental equipment pricing to achieve competitive market rates and support company profitability.
• Schedule and coordinate pickup and delivery of tools and rental equipment to and from job sites.
• Expedite deliveries and communicate accurate delivery dates and status updates to project teams, field supervisors, and foremen.
• Maintain an active rental equipment list and follow up with vendors regarding on-time delivery and equipment condition.
• Respond quickly and efficiently to field emergencies involving tool procurement or rental equipment needs.
• Enter purchase orders into company software systems, Vista, Remarcable, Material Management, and pVault.
• Reconcile distributor invoicing issues to support accurate and timely payment processing.
• Analyze and evaluate distributor stock levels and delivery performance.
• Provide product and equipment information to project teams for application and planning purposes.
• Follow established company policies, departmental procedures, equipment rental processes, and sound procurement practices.
• Maintain current knowledge of relevant products, policies, and procedures.
• Assist with other duties and company initiatives as assigned.

Compensation Range: $85,000 to $90,000

• Prior experience leading, supervising, or coordinating purchasing or rental personnel is preferred.
• Two years of related work experience preferred.
• Experience in purchasing, tool coordination, equipment rental, construction, or field operations is preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple requests, priorities, vendors, and delivery commitments in a fast-paced environment.

 

Computer Skills:

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Ability to use purchasing and tool management systems, including Vista, Remarcable, Material Management, and pVault.

 

Communication and Collaboration:

• Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with project managers, field supervisors, foremen, employees at all levels, distributors, rental vendors, and supplier partners.
