Service Technician

Gowan/Garrett, Inc. is seeking a skilled Service Technician to join our team, servicing commercial clients across a designated territory. This role involves performing a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks to ensure optimal system performance and customer satisfaction.

Include the following. Other duties will likely be assigned.

• Perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on standard package and split unit HVAC systems
• Inspect and service belts, pulleys, condensate lines, compressors, motors, burners, heat exchangers, and safety controls
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and system failures, including brazing and leak detection
• Conduct general repairs on steam and hot water boiler systems, and diagnose airflow and ducting issues
• Handle refrigerants safely and in compliance with EPA standards
• Complete work orders, service reports, and quality inspections using mobile technology
• Perform minor electrical maintenance within state law (e.g., replacing fixtures, switches, outlets, bulbs, ballasts)
• Conduct service and asset inspections as needed
• Maintain clear communication with clients and internal teams to ensure a positive service experience
• Participate in on-call rotation and complete required safety and compliance training Meet your written annual sales goals.

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Certified 2 (two) year HVAC technical certificate or state approved HVAC license
• EPA Universal Refrigeration license required
• Valid driver’s license
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in HVAC and general maintenance, including electrical, plumbing, and carpentry
• Hands-on experience with industrial/commercial HVAC systems
• Strong understanding of building trades and the ability to perform a wide range of maintenance tasks
• Any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the responsibilities of the role

To successfully perform the essential functions of this role, the technician must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and frequently stand, walk, bend, and climb ladders. Manual dexterity is required to operate tools and equipment, along with the ability to work in confined spaces and at varying heights. The role also involves extended periods of computer work and regular movement throughout the office to collaborate with colleagues or retrieve materials. Clear verbal and written communication is essential in both one-on-one and group settings. Occasional travel to job sites, customer locations, or company events may also be required.

This position will primarily work in the field, traveling to various commercial sites. Work environments may include mechanical rooms, rooftops, and other non-climate-controlled areas. Technicians will be exposed to a range of weather conditions and moderate to loud noise levels. The role is fast-paced and customer-focused, requiring adaptability and professionalism in diverse settings. Participation in an on-call rotation is also required.
