Job Summary

Southern Industrial Constructor, INC. is seeking a Superintendent - Mechanical for a project located in Fayetteville, GA. The Superintendent - Mechanical supervises activities of General Foreman and oversees site activities of work crews engaged in fabricating, assembling, installing and maintaining piping, fixtures and equipment installation of machinery, equipment, piping and rigging.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform frequent safety inspections of work area, equipment, tools, and employees in accordance with SIC policy to ensure compliance with government regulations, customer requirements, and SIC’s safety program.   
  • Plan the work for optimal safety and efficiency. Then work and track the plan.
  • Manage activities of Foreman and assigned craft workers.
  • Support Project Manager with company SOP’s. For example, support PM as required to comply with scheduling, productivity tracking, and change management requirements.
  • Participate during the proposal and pre construction phase of a project to develop a project plan and validate overall schedule duration.
  • Lead a collaborative field planning process using short interval planning and production tracking.
  • Create construction schedules, perform regular updates, monitor logic relationships, and insert new activities and impacts.
  • Coordinate jobsite logistics and maintain relationships with neighboring occupants.
  • Attend project/scheduling meetings.
  • Negotiate with Authorities having Jurisdiction to achieve project milestones.
  • Coordinate subcontractor work scopes, scheduling, and resource loading in conjunction with Self-Performed Work crews.
  • Foster the development of supervisors to grow into future superintendents.
  • Professionally represent our Field Operations as primary interface with Owner, Clients, Vendors, and Design Team.
  • Detect, recognize and respond to dangerous conditions or situations..
  • Significant travel may be required.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience. 
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience.

Work Environment

Conditions may include working in shop, busy traffic areas, warehouses, and undeveloped properties, with frequent exposure to dirt, dust, grease, oil, vibrations, and adverse weather conditions. Must be able to safely access all areas of property, including rooftops and other elevated positions as well as, confined spaces.  Must be able to effectively use all required PPE equipment and lift up to fifty pounds. Strenuous physical demands are required to safely perform the essential functions associated with this position. Must be able to safely operate all involved equipment and tools.  Must be capable of standing for long periods of time, bending consistently, working in confined spaces with limited access, on ladders, in personnel lifts, and working in awkward body positions.
