The Senior BAS Network Engineer is a senior technical authority responsible for the architecture, security, integration, reliability, and lifecycle management of Building Automation System networks, and supervisory platforms.
This position operates at the intersection of building automation, operational technology, information technology, and cybersecurity. The role provides advanced technical support across Mesa’s offices, establishes practical BAS network and Niagara standards, and serves as a Tier 3 escalation resource for complex system, integration, and infrastructure issues.
The successful candidate will work independently, make sound technical recommendations, coach technical personnel, and communicate effectively with field teams, Automation leaders, customers, vendors, and IT and cybersecurity stakeholders.
• Design and review secure, scalable BAS network architectures for individual facilities, campuses, multi-site customers, and enterprise portfolios.
• Serve as Mesa’s senior subject matter expert for Niagara Supervisors, JACE controllers, stations, drivers, licensing, certificates, backups, migrations, and platform lifecycle management.
• Engineer and troubleshoot BAS communications using BACnet/IP, BACnet MS/TP, Modbus, LonWorks, SNMP, and other applicable protocols.
• Diagnose complex controller, field-bus, IP network, server, database, integration, and application issues using appropriate BAS and network diagnostic tools.
• Lead or support Niagara upgrades, system migrations, batch provisioning, database recovery, architecture modernization, and supervisory-system stabilization.
• Develop secure remote access, network-segmentation, firewall, certificate, user-access, patching, backup, and disaster-recovery strategies.
• Collaborate with customer IT and cybersecurity teams to align BAS operational requirements with enterprise security standards.
• Serve as a Tier 3 escalation resource for Automation engineers, programmers, technicians, project managers, service teams, and branch leaders.
• Review controls submittals, network diagrams, sequences of operation, integration requirements, and contractor-provided technical documentation.
• Develop and maintain BAS network diagrams, architecture standards, configuration records, design templates, troubleshooting guides, and recovery procedures.
• Convert recurring technical issues and successful resolutions into reusable standards, training materials, and knowledge articles.
• Coach and mentor technical personnel in BAS networking, Niagara architecture, cybersecurity, integration, and structured troubleshooting.
• Support technical discovery, risk evaluation, modernization planning, customer meetings, and solution development for complex or multi-site opportunities.
• Coordinate advanced technical issues with BAS manufacturers, software providers, equipment vendors, contractors, and other specialists.
• Participate in planned system cutovers and a defined after-hours escalation rotation when required.
• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Building Automation, or a related field; or equivalent relevant experience.
• 10+ years of building automation, controls integration, BAS networking, or operational technology.
• Advanced Niagara Framework experience, including Supervisors, JACE platforms, migrations, and lifecycle management.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking, routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, DNS, DHCP, certificates, and secure remote connectivity.
• Strong knowledge of BAS and industrial protocols (BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, SNMP), and secure IP network architectures.
• Experience with BAS supervisory servers, Windows Server, virtualization, backups, system recovery, and network diagnostic tools.
• Working knowledge of OT cybersecurity principles and enterprise security practices.
• Ability to independently diagnose complex technical issues and lead them through resolution.
• Strong documentation, coaching, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Travel to sites and comply with customer safety/security/site access requirements supporting multi-site, government, critical infrastructure, data center, or high security environments.
• Experience developing organizational standards or supporting a centralized BAS operations, engineering, or remote-support center.
• Niagara 4 certification - preferred

Compensation Range: $180,000 - $190,000
