Job Summary

Hill York seeks a Project Manager who is passionate about leading dynamic construction projects from concept to completion. In this critical role, you will oversee the planning, coordination, scheduling, execution, and successful delivery of retrofit, new construction, and design-build projects. You will be responsible for managing project teams, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and budgets while ensuring exceptional safety policies. This role requires full project ownership and accountability for project execution, commercial performance, customer relationships, risk management, cash flow, schedule achievement, and overall project success.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide full ownership of assigned projects from startup through closeout, including project setup, contract administration, billing strategy, cash flow management, risk mitigation, claims management, customer satisfaction, financial performance, and successful project completion.
  • Develop and lead overall project execution strategies, including schedules, customer commitments, recovery plans, billing strategies, cash flow management, and resolution of issues that could impact cost, schedule, quality, or contractual obligations.
  • Protect Hill York's interests by leveraging contract documents, managing project risks, overseeing claims strategy and resolution, maintaining contractual compliance, and ensuring scope, schedule, and profit objectives are achieved.
  • Lead major customer, contractor, and stakeholder meetings, negotiations, change order development and recovery efforts, payment discussions, and executive-level alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Project Administrators, Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, and other project team members while serving as Hill York's primary representative to customers, contractors, and stakeholders and maintaining accountability for project outcomes.
  • Owns final closeout strategy, retention release, claims resolution, and customer acceptance.
  • Oversee project financial performance, including billings, cash flow, underbilling and overbilling awareness, retention release, and final project closeout activities, ensuring successful customer acceptance and completion of all contractual requirements.
  • Visit job sites to monitor progress and resolve field problems as well as track manpower.
  • Establish and drive overall field execution strategy by coordinating labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, inspections, and resources to support safety, quality, productivity, profitability, and schedule performance.
  • Collaborates with HVAC Sales Consultants and the Operations department for guidance and support, including technical direction.
  • Manage multiple projects from planning through completion, ensuring work is executed efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Develop and implement project plans, document technical requirements, and maintain project documentation including progress reports, changes, delays, submittals, RFIs, and related records.
  • Ensure RFIs, submittals, drawings, and project documentation are managed effectively and resolved in a manner that minimizes schedule impacts, cost exposure, and contractual risk
  • Oversee project financial performance, including billings, change orders, estimates, proposals, material procurement, subcontractor management, and cost control.
  • Coordinate field manpower, materials, inspections, and other project resources to support successful project execution and timely completion.
  • Serve as the primary project representative by attending contractor coordination meetings, meeting with inspectors, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Partner with the sales team by providing project insights, supporting customer proposals, and identifying opportunities to help grow future business.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships through regular communication and exceptional service.

Qualifications

  • Minimum four years of relevant experience managing mechanical construction projects
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining schedule, budget, quality, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, project financial management, billing, change orders, cost control, and risk management.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, submittals, and project documents.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, leadership, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers, contractors, engineers, field personnel, and executive leadership.
  • Ability to regularly sit, stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, traverse active construction job sites, travel to project locations, and perform the physical activities required to effectively manage projects in both office and field environments.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and project scheduling software
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities.
