Position Summary
The Field Supervisor, Mission Critical Services serves in a dual role capacity, balancing hands-on technical responsibilities with field leadership duties. In addition to performing maintenance, repairs, and supporting facility operations within mission critical environments, this position provides field supervision, mentorship, technical support, quality oversight, and operational coordination for assigned technicians. The balance between technical and supervisory duties will vary based on operational and customer needs. This role supports the successful execution of preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, emergency response, and customer service activities across assigned facilities.
The Field Supervisor serves as a key liaison between field team members, customer representatives, and district leadership, helping ensure maintenance activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established procedures, customer requirements, and mission critical operating standards.
This position is responsible for supporting operational consistency, promoting safety, assisting with technician development, conducting field audits, and helping maintain high levels of customer satisfaction across assigned locations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Operational Support & Field Supervision
• This position is expected to divide time approximately equally between hands-on technician responsibilities and Field Supervisor duties. The actual allocation of time may vary based on team size, operational demands and priorities, and the needs of the business.
• Support onboarding, training, coaching, and cross-training initiatives to develop technical competencies, strengthen workforce versatility, and support team member growth and career progression.
• Provide field support, operational oversight, and technical guidance to technicians to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality service delivery across assigned facilities.
• Participate in the interview and selection process for prospective hires and support team leadership in the annual performance reviews for assigned team members.
• Provide site coverage as needed during team member absences, staffing shortages, customer escalations, or operational events.
• Conduct routine field audits and quality inspections to verify maintenance activities meet company, customer, and mission critical standards.
• Oversee operation and maintenance activities involving HVAC-related responsibilities.
• Support consistent operational execution across assigned facilities and campuses.
• Coordinate maintenance activities and resources to ensure customer commitments are met.
• Review preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and service work orders to verify timely completion and proper documentation.
• Assist in resolving maintenance, operational, and technical issues as required.
• Support implementation of operational initiatives, procedures, and service standards established by district and division leadership.
• Perform special projects and assignments as requested.
Mission Critical Operations
• Support operations within mission critical facilities.
• Ensure maintenance activities are performed in accordance with site-specific SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, customer requirements, and established operating procedures.
• Participate in planned shutdowns, equipment startups, system transfers, and critical maintenance activities.
• Assist with operational incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
• Verify operational readiness and support emergency response activities as required.
• Monitor compliance with mission critical operational standards and customer expectations.
Customer Support & Relationship Management
• Maintain regular communication with site contacts and customer representatives regarding maintenance activities, service delivery, and operational concerns.
• Attend customer meetings, site reviews, and operational discussions as required.
• Support customer retention through responsiveness, communication, and consistent service execution.
• Address field level customer concerns and escalate issues to district leadership as appropriate.
• Assist in ensuring customer satisfaction objectives are achieved across assigned locations.
Safety & Compliance
• Promote a culture of safety and operational excellence.
• Conduct routine site inspections to identify unsafe conditions and operational risks.
• Perform safety audits to ensure compliance with company policies (e.g. adherence to the “Aircond Golden Rules”), customer requirements, and regulatory standards.
• Verify required technician safety documentation, certifications, and reports are completed accurately and on time.
• Attend and support safety meetings, training initiatives, and corrective action efforts.
• Ensure adherence to facility emergency procedures and response protocols.
• Comply with all applicable governmental regulations, site requirements, and company policies.
Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
• Provide recommendations regarding operational efficiencies, service delivery improvements, and maintenance best practices.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of site-specific checklists, inspection processes, and maintenance documentation.
• Support continual improvement of maintenance programs, work processes, and service quality standards.
• Ensure team members follow established procedures, work instructions, and operational standards.
Resource Coordination
• Assist with inventory control processes and material procurement activities.
• Support vehicle, equipment, and field resource coordination as needed.
• Ensure work areas are maintained in a clean, organized, and professional manner.
Other Requirements
• Execute other related duties as needed or assigned to support evolving business priorities.
Qualifications
• High School Diploma, GED, or technical school graduate required. HVAC license preferred.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience working with commercial HVAC equipment and building systems. Mission critical or data center experience preferred.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in facilities management, building operations, or property management environments.
• Previous field coordination or supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of preventive maintenance, service operations, facility management, and mission critical environments.
• Working knowledge of CMMS platforms, Microsoft365, and business management systems (e.g., COINS or similar ERP system preferred).
• Universal CFC Certification preferred.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical documentation.
• Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to maintain positive working relationships with customers, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
• Ability to travel (out of state on occasion) and work overtime as required.
