Job Summary

EMCOR Government Services has an immediate need for a Laborer, Grounds Maintenance at Eglin Air Force Base, FL. The Laborer, Grounds Maintenance Laborer is responsible for maintaining the appearance, cleanliness, safety, and functionality of government-owned grounds, facilities, and exterior common areas. This position performs routine landscaping and groundskeeping duties, including mowing, trimming, planting, debris removal, snow removal, and general site maintenance. The Laborer ensures all work is performed in accordance with applicable government regulations, safety standards, and contract requirements.

 

This role is covered by the Service Contract Act (SCA)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Mow lawns, trim grass, edge walkways, and maintain landscaped areas.
  • Plant, water, prune, and maintain trees, shrubs, flowers, and other vegetation.
  • Remove weeds, leaves, litter, and other debris from grounds and outdoor facilities.
  • Operate and maintain grounds maintenance equipment, including mowers, string trimmers, blowers, hedge trimmers, and other hand and power tools.
  • Perform seasonal grounds maintenance activities, including mulching, leaf removal, and snow and ice removal.
  • Apply fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides in accordance with authorized procedures and safety requirements.
  • Clean and maintain parking lots, sidewalks, roadways, fences, and government property grounds.
  • Assist with minor repairs to fencing, irrigation systems, signs, and other site infrastructure.
  • Load, unload, and transport tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Conduct routine inspections of grounds and report safety hazards, damaged property, or maintenance concerns.
  • Follow all federal, state, local, and site-specific environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Maintain equipment in clean and serviceable condition and report equipment malfunctions.
  • Support emergency response, severe weather preparation, and site cleanup activities as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum one (1) year of grounds maintenance, landscaping, laborer, or related experience preferred.
  • Ability to operate lawn care and grounds maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Basic knowledge of landscaping practices, grounds maintenance techniques, and equipment operation.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record may be required.
