Position:                   Project Engineer / Project Controls Specialist

Reports to:               Glen Riddle – Vice President

Location:                   Midland, Texas

Employment Type: Regular, Non-Exempt Position (Per Diem offered, if eligible)

General Job Description:  Ardent Services is seeking an individual who possesses the skills, aptitude, and ambition required to contribute to our organization as a Project Engineer.  Generally responsible for monitoring, capturing, and analyzing project data to support project progress, procurement, cost, planning, and scheduling. 

Essential Duties and Skills:

  • Maintaining and monitoring Project Controls in areas including, but not limited to, progress, productivity, performance, quality, and cost.
  • Developing, maintaining, and monitoring schedules by obtaining updates through established Project Controls systems, project data, and field verification.
  • Maintaining and monitoring the Request For Information (RFI) and Management of Change (MOC) systems.
  • Developing estimates and takeoffs for projects including but not limited to estimates associated with change orders.
  • Developing and maintaining the cost control system including reconciling commitments, change orders, invoices, and running cost reports.
  • Maintaining standard project reports and developing ad-hoc project specific reports.
  • Liaise and interact with company representatives, customers, and subordinates.
  • Assist Project Manager, Construction Manager and Superintendents in the execution of job requirements.
  • Ensure purchasing, subcontracting, and administration activities are carried out.
  • Monitor activities to ensure proper compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Overseeing, training, and evaluating junior project controls personnel.

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Construction Management/Science/Engineering or related degree with 3+ years of experience, or 7+ years of equivalent experience, is highly preferred. High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Excel, and Oracle Primavera P6. Preferably experienced with utilizing Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Power BI, Navisworks Freedom, and DocuSign.
  • Ability to effectively discuss and correspond with engineering disciplines and/or contractors to ascertain and understand pertinent information concerning schedules, scopes of work, estimates and/or project costs.
  • Ability to methodically approach detail-oriented tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Works effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision and oversight.

Physical Requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • Ability to work a 10-hour shift, at minimum, and overtime when necessary.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and drive for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to walk up and down multiple flights stairs.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • When required, wear all necessary PPE and conform to other site-specific requirements.
