Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and licensed Pipefitter to join our Facilities Operations team in a large-scale manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of piping systems that support critical manufacturing processes and facility operations. The successful candidate will work with a variety of piping materials including PVC, carbon steel, copper, and stainless steel while supporting systems such as steam, chilled water, process chilled water, compressed air, nitrogen, and HVAC infrastructure.

This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work safely in an active manufacturing facility with mission-critical equipment and utilities. This job is not solely pipe fitter, this role is expected to help in other activities onsite as well. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Install, modify, maintain, and repair piping systems throughout the facility.
  • Work with a variety of pipe materials including: PVC, Copper, SS, and Carbon Steel
  • Fabricate, cut, thread, bend, groove, and assemble piping systems according to specifications and drawings.
  • Perform soldering and brazing of copper piping and fittings.
  • Install and repair valves, regulators, pumps, heat exchangers, strainers, and other piping components.
  • Support and maintain plant utility systems including:

Steam distribution systems

      Steam boilers and condensate return system

      Chilled water and process chilled water systems

      Compressed air systems

Nitrogen distribution systems

      Domestic water systems

  • Troubleshoot piping, flow, pressure, temperature, and equipment performance issues.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance on facility utility systems.
  • Support maintenance and repair activities on chillers, cooling systems, boilers, and related equipment.
  • Assist HVAC technicians with piping-related repairs on hundreds of HVAC units and associated hydronic systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, P&IDs, mechanical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Conduct leak testing, pressure testing, flushing, and commissioning of new piping installations.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete work orders using CMMS software.
  • Coordinate with facility engineers, maintenance personnel, contractors, and operations teams to minimize downtime.
  • Comply with all safety procedures, lockout/tagout (LOTO), hot work permits, confined space requirements, and environmental regulations.

Qualifications

  • Valid Pipefitter License or Journeyman Pipefitter Certification as required by state or local regulations.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 5 years of industrial, manufacturing, commercial, or facilities pipefitting experience.

  • Chilled water systems
  • Process water systems
  • Compressed air systems
  • Industrial gas systems (nitrogen preferred)
  • Proven experience soldering and brazing copper piping.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and P&IDs.
  • Strong troubleshooting and mechanical repair skills.
  • Working knowledge of applicable plumbing, mechanical, and building codes.
  • Proficient in the use of pipefitting tools, threading equipment, welding support tools, and testing instruments.
  • Ability to work in teams and prioritize multiple assignments.

Moving mechanical parts and high, precarious places

Occasional exposure to:

  • Fumes or airborne particles
  • Toxic or caustic chemicals
  • Risk of electrical shock and vibration
  • Moderate to high noise levels
  • Outdoor weather conditions (including extreme cold, extreme heat).

The following safety equipment may be required: steel toecap shoes, hearing protection, hardhat eye protection and hair protection.
