Position Overview

We are seeking a full-time Project Manager - Special Projects Group to join our growing team in Colorado. This position is responsible for managing electrical construction and service-related projects from initial opportunity through warranty completion.

The Special Projects Group Project Manager is a hands-on role requiring ownership of the full project lifecycle. This includes preparing estimates, setting up awarded projects, managing project execution, tracking financial performance, preparing financial projections, overseeing customer communication, coordinating field labor and procurement, managing closeout documentation, and supporting warranty-related items.

This position requires a well-rounded Project Manager who can work independently, respond quickly to customer needs, manage multiple projects at various stages, and maintain strong financial and operational control throughout each project.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Manage special projects from initial estimate through project closeout and warranty
  • Prepare accurate estimates for electrical construction, service, remodel, tenant improvement, shutdown, and fast-turnaround project
  • Review drawings, specifications, site conditions, customer requests, and contract requirements to develop complete and accurate scopes of
  • Develop labor budgets, material takeoffs, vendor pricing, subcontractor pricing, equipment needs, and overall project
  • Set up awarded projects, including job folders, budgets, schedules, purchase orders, subcontractor coordination, manpower planning, billing setup, and internal kickoff
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers, peers, supervisors, administrative staff, field craft workers, field supervision, vendors, and subcontractors based on respect, trust, and
  • Manage all aspects of assigned projects within established budgets and schedules according to contract documents, plans, specifications, and client
  • Estimate, budget, and trend electrical system costs from design through construction
  • Develop and manage accurate cost projections, evaluate project performance, and update monthly Work-In- Progress
  • Track project financials, including committed costs, labor hours, material costs, subcontractor costs, billings, change orders, projections, and
  • Prepare financial forecasts and identify risks or opportunities that may impact project margin, schedule, or customer
  • Thoroughly understand project plans, specifications, schedules, manpower requirements, and resources necessary to complete projects on time and within
  • Continuously review project progress, anticipate potential issues, recognize trouble spots, and take proactive steps to prevent problems from
  • Coordinate with field leadership to ensure projects are properly planned, staffed, scheduled, and executed safely and
  • Facilitate project meetings, ensuring clear communication and follow-up on action
  • Prepare and manage timely, accurate, and complete project documentation, including incoming and outgoing correspondence, submittals, RFIs, daily reports, change orders, schedules, meeting notes, and customer communications.
  • Identify, price, submit, negotiate, and manage change orders, scope gaps, cost impacts, and schedule
  • Negotiate contracts and resolve conflicts at the project management
  • Conduct and document procurement activities, including commodity materials, consumables, tools, equipment, major equipment packages, and
  • Manage subcontractor scope, performance, quality, safety, progress, and
  • Work in cooperation with the Safety Manager to support compliance with safety regulations, identify site-specific safety training needs, eliminate hazardous jobsite conditions, and reduce the potential for

 

  • Work with the Quality Manager to support quality control expectations, reduce rework, and minimize project
  • Coordinate with Prefab, BIM/CAD, vendors, and field teams where applicable to support pre-planning, prefabrication, coordination, and efficient
  • Manage project closeout, including punch lists, as-builts, O&M manuals, warranty documents, final billing, turnover documentation, and customer
  • Support warranty items after project completion and coordinate timely resolution with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and field

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in construction, construction management, engineering, or a related field and 5 to 10 years of electrical project management experience; or licensed electrician for a minimum of 5 years plus 1 to 5 years of electrical project management
  • Experience managing electrical construction, service, tenant improvement, remodel, shutdown, or special projects.

 

  • Ability to independently estimate electrical work, including labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and vendor
  • Understanding of project setup, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, cost tracking, billing, forecasting, and closeout.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
  • Experience with estimating software such as Accubid is
  • Proven interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills necessary to communicate effectively with employees, clients, vendors, subcontractors, field teams, and internal
  • Ability to work in a team environment while also managing responsibilities
  • Ability to pass federal and state background checks and a pre-employment drug

  Qualifications

  • Ability to lead, manage, and motivate project team
  • Ability to manage multiple small- to mid-sized projects simultaneously in a fast-paced
  • Strong understanding of electrical construction methods, service work, retrofit work, shutdown planning, and special project
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work
  • Strong understanding of project financials, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, billing, profitability, and Work-In-Progress
  • Ability to develop and manage schedules, budgets, and cost
  • Ability to take ownership of project outcomes from estimate through
  • Strong customer service mindset with the ability to communicate professionally and solve problems
  • Ability to identify project risks early and develop practical
  • Understanding of and compliance with the work rules of IBEW 68, 111, and/or 113 union agreements is
  • Working knowledge of municipal jurisdictional procedures, including plan reviews, permits, codes, inspections, and closeout
  • Positive attitude toward career development, team collaboration, and company process improvement
  •  
  • The ideal candidate is a self-sufficient Project Manager who can independently estimate, set up, manage, track, forecast, close out, and warranty special projects. This person understands that Special Projects require urgency, flexibility, strong communication, accurate estimating, disciplined financial tracking, and a high level of customer service.

Compensation Range: Salary Range for this position is $100,000 - $135,000 and is based upon years of experience that is commensurate with the level of the position.

Other Compensation:   Eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus in accordance with Company policy.
