Overview

 

The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for taking an active lead support role as it relates to the planning, directing, coordinating and budgeting activities concerned with electrical construction projects. This role will begin to take ownership of some part of managing large projects; may lead a small project under the guidance of a PM. The desired result is that our projects are run efficiently with maximum profitability and high customer satisfaction. Through executing, shadowing and mentoring, this role will get the required experience to develop into a Project Manager.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties will likely be assigned.

  • Set up jobs – permits, material take offs, sending vendor quotes, and submittal process.
  • Actively participate in estimating hand off meetings and ensure understanding of how job was estimated.
  • Perform counts for buyouts of packages.
  • Ensure field has appropriate and up-to-date documentation.
  • Assist in establishing project schedule with PM.
  • Create cost code allocations from initial estimate.
  • Work with PM and Pre-Fab Manager to discuss pre-fabrication opportunities and coordinate lay out, plan and schedule for any prefabricated assemblies.
  • Independently evaluate changes for review and process change orders.
  • Work closely with Office and Field to ensure we are working off the latest drawings.
  • Visit job sites and attend job meetings as needed.
  • Assist with bi-weekly projection on job cost. Understand job progress and hours-to-date.
  • Manage vendors and track all deliveries of materials.
  • Coordinate and issue timely RFIs.
  • Maintain professional written and verbal communication with customers and project teams.
  • Work with Project Coordinators as required for assistance in Purchase and delivery tracking, software inputs, permit pulling, change order management, project close out materials, administrative duties, etc.
  • Ensure job close out manuals and as-builts are completed.
  • Participate in job close out meetings.
  • Understand Safety responsibilities onsite.
  • Mentor and assist with training Project Engineers.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of demonstrated experience assisting in electrical project management.
  • BS in Construction Management or Electrical Engineering desirable; four year degree or equivalent years of education and/or experience required.
  • Electrical construction knowledge gained through an apprenticeship program is acceptable.
  • Strong communication skills – verbal and written – that promote “working together”.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow a process.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Problem resolution skills.
  • Demonstrate responsiveness to external and internal customers and ownership of your job and responsibilities is critical.
  • Desire to be part of a team and understand how your role fits into the bigger picture.
  • Demonstrated experience using various software such as Microsoft 365.
  • Will train on Construction related software such as Spectrum, Conest, and Bluebeam.

Compensation Range:  $80,000 - $116,019 annually

Other Compensation: bonus eligible
