Job Summary

Control Solutions Group, Inc., an EMCOR Group company, seeks an highly motivated Building Management Systems (BMS) Sales Executive - Service to join our New York City team.

 

In this role, the BMS Sales Executive - Service will identify and drive new sales opportunities for building management systems, retrofits, and service contracts by building strong relationships with building owners and mechanical contractors. This role is responsible for attending pre-bid meetings, conducting walkthroughs, and collaborating with electrical subcontractors to gather the detailed information required to build accurate project estimates and technical proposals. Additionally, the position manages client relationships with a high sense of urgency and coordinates internally across operations, engineering, and service teams to ensure complete customer satisfaction.

 

Experience with controls, BMS, BAS, DDC, Building Automation, Building Management, EPMS and Energy Management Systems are preferred.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identify and target potential service and retrofit opportunities; initiate sales momentum, arrange client meetings, and establish long-term relationships with building owners, operators, and mechanical contractors.
  • Review MEP drawings to determine scope; utilize standardized engineering tools to calculate comprehensive costs for equipment, electrical installation, wiring, labor, and panel fabrication.
  • Solicit bids and negotiate with vetted electrical subcontractors and vendors to ensure proper coverage, accurate scope alignment, and tax-exempt pricing verification prior to bid day.
  • Attend pre-bid project meetings, job site walkthroughs, and client meetings to record and compile the critical field information needed to assess project requirements.
  • Partner closely with internal engineering, sales, operations, and service teams to manage cost factors, deliver proposals by strict deadlines, and ensure 100% customer satisfaction with a high sense of urgency and integrity.
  • Proven ability to work exceptionally well both independently (with minimal supervision) and within a collaborative team environment.
  • Self-motivated professional with superior decision-making, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  • Highly skilled at planning, organizing, scheduling, and meeting strict, fast-paced deadlines.
  • Excellent customer service skills combined with a high degree of integrity and professional discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Willingness to work closely with the engineering team to learn HVAC and BMS control fundamentals utilizing company standards, and a continuous drive to stay abreast of industry changes.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ previous sales experience and a proven track record of sales success in Building Management Systems or Control Systems, integration, and EPMS in mission critical and commercial facilities.
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of Visio and/or AutoCAD a plus.
  • Knowledge of CRM and Bid Tracer a plus.
  • BACnet Control Systems Sales experience a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong negotiation and closing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Minimum 3-5 years field experience in the HVAC controls industry including DDC Systems commissioning, software integration operation, service, retrofit, and calibration.
  • Extensive knowledge of networking protocols, hardware, configuration, management, security and diagnostics
