Job Summary

SUMMARY

 

Lead and manage operations for Business Unit by providing oversite, direction and support to the Project Managers and their teams.  Responsible for conduction regular performance reviews and providing coaching to all direct reports to facilitate their professional growth and development.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Include the following.  Other duties will likely be assigned.

 

  • Supported client growth and retention by collaborating with business development and work acquisition teams.
  • Service customers in a manner that is consistent with Trautman and Shreve core values and promotes a prosperous business relationship for all.
  • Lead Business Unit and Operational Managers to evaluate and take actions that are consistent with the overall company strategy and culture.
  • Lead and manage operations for Business Unit by providing oversite, direction and support to the Project Managers and their teams:
    • Responsible for conduction regular performance reviews and providing coaching to all direct reports to facilitate their professional growth and development.
  • Build an organizational culture in which passion for continuous improvement is expected and consistent with ELEVATE core values.
  • Develop strategies that ensure the Business Unit is operating seamlessly with other Business Units and take actions to make certain that all decisions are made in the best interest of the company.
  • Ensure Business Unit operations and processes are consistent with company Operations Manual. Coordinate necessary  process changes with other Business Unit Leaders and make changes to company Operations Manual necessary for continual company improvement.
  • Quality improvement through research and implementation of best practices and identify new/needed skills, better processes, or methods.
  • Identify opportunities and areas for improvement within Business Unit to improve the operational systems, processes and policies in support of organizational missions such as:
    • Improve Management Reporting, Document and Information Control, Business processes and Organizational Planning and training
    • Improve the bridging of Operations, Accounting, Project Management and Field Labor
    • Champion prefabrication
  • Set performance goals that are tailored to Business Unit and challenge basic assumptions underlying Business Unit operations
  • Develop Operational goals for Business Unit that are aggressive, yet obtainable and tied to long-term goals of the company.
  • Establish short-term goals that align with the long-term objectives to enhance functional and operational activities.
  • Monitor Business Unit performance against performance goals to ensure progress is being made. Take corrective action if necessary.
  • Identify and establish KPI for Business Unit as well as deliver report on performance to measure against.
  • Establish monthly project status/projection reviews with each Project Team and report these to the Executive Team.
  • Assess new projects and associated requirements to assign project management teams that will have the best chance of success for the organization and the customer.
  • Support strategic management processes that require restructuring, reengineering, and refocusing the organization as required through action plans and focus driven processes.
  • Optimization of supplier satisfaction/loyalty through improved operations:
    • Increase relations with suppliers to improve efficiency on all projects.
    • Build cohesiveness with all of our suppliers so that they know how best to serve us.
    • Ensure that all supplier transactions provide the company the best possible value, from a cost and customer service perspective.
  • Implementation of productivity/quality metrics designed to minimize costs and enhance efficiency by using quantitative and qualitative measures:
  • Scheduling
  • Task Planner
  • Percent Complete Drawings
    1. Earned Revenue Tools
  • Supervising, Coaching and development staff on a regular basis, including but not limited to the following tasks:
    • Communication of performance expectations
    • Provide performance metrics
    • Provide regular performance reviews
    • Provide career path guidance
    • Individual training plan
  • Budget Planning
    • Cost to complete
    • Labor loading projections
    • Percent complete
    • Billings
    • Cash Flow Projections
  • Ensure that Accounting Department requests are resolved and communicated in a timely manner.
  • Identify and mentor potential leaders
    • Cultivate leadership skills in potential leaders
  • Foster leadership skills in potential leaders, demonstrating their capability to develop and mentor direct reports for their continued growth.
  • Oversee and supervise projects and their teams, striving to exceed established objectives.

 

Qualifications

    • Minimum 6-10 years progressive experience in project management or operations, sales or marketing in the Construction Industry – working for multi-million dollar mechanical contractors
    • Undergraduate degree in business, finance, engineering or similar degree preferred
    • In-depth knowledge of the industry and current events
    • Technical competencies – understand software, hardware, networks, etc.
    • High initiative and ability to work in team environment
    • Effectively handle stressful situations and deadline pressures
    • Strong communication skills

Compensation Range:  

 

Minimum annual base salary $145,000 to maximum annual base salary $200,000; DOE

 

Other Compensation:  position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
