Ohmstede Ltd is looking for a candidate to layout per print then fit and tack all shell and tube heat exchanger components and assemblies for fabrication by welders. The ability to read and understand fabrication drawings. Able to measure, layout, and prep all welded connections on the exchanger. This position will require a good understanding of metal fabrication practices, heat effects, metal shrinkage and growth based on heat input in the welding process. The use of oxy/acetylene torch, plasma cutter, arc gouging, grinders along with other tools and techniques required to fit metal items together is required. SMAW and GTAW processes will be utilized.
Lay-out, fit-up, burn, arc gouge, plasma cut, grind and weld as necessary to form components
to meet required finish dimensions. This may require length adjustment based on material.
Prepare cutouts as necessary to meet drawing weld bevel requirements and standards.
Knowledge- H.S. diploma or equivalent; or equivalent experience, knowledge of fitting/welding procedures.
Skills- Must read and write English language in order to read weld procedures and fabrication drawings and requirements. Must be able to pass ASME welding test and have understanding and comprehension of the application of algebra and geometry.
Heat Exchanger job shop or field fabrication experience preferred.
