S.A. Comunale is seeking a Chief Pilot. The primary function of the Chief Pilot is to be directly responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the aircraft for each assigned flight.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Primary duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Perform a visual pre-flight (walk-around) inspection prior to each flight and after each flight.
  • Pilot in command (PIC) of all flights.
  • Assume primary responsibility for the safety of the passengers, crewmembers, cargo, and the aircraft.
  • Provides excellent customer service to passengers.
  • Thoroughly review all customer service items including, but not limited to, passenger pick up, passenger drop off, refueling, customs, private hangar pick up/drop off private hangar communication requirements, and passenger catering.
  • Prepare flight plans considering factors such as altitude, terrain, weather, and navigational aids.
  • Comply with all Federal Aviation Regulations, Company Operations Manual, Operations Specifications, Standard Operating Procedures, and Company Policies and Procedures.
  • Calculate and review the aircraft weight and balance, fuel on board, and performance charts.
  • Remain informed of the latest developments within the business aviation community, including the FARs, and other Federal, state, local, and foreign regulations affecting operations.
  • Establish and supervise the initial and recurrent training of aviation department personnel, both internally and externally.
  • Ensure the implementation and use of standard operating procedures (SOP) and crew resource management (CRM) for the flight crews.
  • Ensure that revisions and amendments to the standard operating procedures are current.
  • Prepare and distribute periodic reports and statistics as required.
  • Evaluate any expenditures incurred by subordinates.
  • Coordinate aircraft, engine, and avionics maintenance and repair to professional maintenance facilities.
  • Monitor crew performance.
  • Maintain currency and efficiency on assigned aircraft.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • FAA commercial pilot license is required.
  • Instrument flying license is required.
  • 10+ years commercial pilot experience is required.
  • Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) credential is a plus.
  • Active Passport is required.
  • Recent Flight Experience is required.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information is required.
  • Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) is a plus.
  • Class 1 FAA Flight Physical is required.
  • 2,000 total flight time (minimum) is required.
  • Pilot in Command (PIC) (1,000 hours) is a plus.
  • Turbo jet transport hours (800 hours) is required.
  • Excellent customer service skills are required.
  • Demonstration of a positive attitude is required.
  • Ability to think strategically, make sound decisions, and produce accurate and timely results is required.
  • Building positive working relationships with multiple levels of employees and management is required.
  • Demonstrating integrity and professionalism is required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and may be infrequently required to climb, balance, lift, push/pull, and stoop. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The physical strength rating of this position is classified as light work which entails exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. The environmental conditions of this position include indoors, outdoors, extreme hot/cold temperatures, and fumes. Hearing protection is frequently required. Operation of a computer keyboard, telephone, and hand calculator are required. The employee must be able to understand addition/subtraction, simple math, technical reports, technical instructions, simple memos, and business letters. In addition, the employee must be able to write simple memos, summaries, and business letters. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to commute to customer and company locations by land and air.
