Job Summary:
MOR PPM Inc., seeks a Maintenance Mechanic in Lakeland, FL. This is a skilled work in the repair and maintenance of buildings, plumbing, carpentry, polyethylene (HDPE) pipe fitting and fusion and other various types of equipment and site construction. Work involves the responsibility for the performance of a variety of miscellaneous mechanical, construction and building trade task in general maintenance work. Supervision may be exercised over a small number of employees. Work is performed without close supervision but is reviewed while in progress and upon completion.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs various repairs and adjustments to plumbing, mechanical, fixtures, doors, windows and locks.
- Initiates general repairs and installation of all types of plumbing systems including cast iron, PVC, CPVC, copper and polyethylene (HDPE) piping
- Operates maintenance equipment; makes minor repairs to building infrastructures and furniture; cleans guttering.
- Repairs and maintains varied office equipment and building components.
- Bolts metal parts as required; repairs buildings and shelters; repairs and maintains varied office equipment.
- Performs skilled carpentry repairs in a Carpenter shop operating power saws and other standard carpentry tools.
- May be required to work overtime or alternate hours as necessary for the efficient operation of the department.
Experience:
- One (1) year of experience as a Plant Mechanic Helper including a variety of mechanical and maintenance tasks.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience that is determined to be directly related and equivalent to the foregoing specific requirements may be substituted.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Knowledge of the practices, methods and tools of the maintenance and Construction trades.
- Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions peculiar to various mechanical trades.
- Skill in the use of a wide range of building trade tools and shop equipment.
- Ability to work from ladders, scaffolds and lift trucks.
- Ability to understand and work from sketches, penciled layouts and rough plans and specifications.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and co-workers
Physical Requirements/Job Site Requirements:
- Must be able to complete hiring paperwork electronically through DocuSign
- May be required to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Must possess enough strength and stamina to perform the technical duties and essential functions as identified above
- Must be able to move in and around confined spaces and uneven areas
- Must have full range of motion consistent with age
- Must be able to climb and maintain balance ladders
- Must be able to adequately hear and respond to voice commands and alerts from other employees, alarms and other job-related noises
- Visual acuity, depth perception and color discrimination consistent with that required to work at heights and on uneven surfaces
- Safety/Steel toe shoes are required
