EMCOR Government Services has an immediate need for a General Maintenance Worker (GMW) in Washington DC. This position is covered by the CBA for Local 99.

Performs general maintenance and repair of equipment requiring practical skill and knowledge (but not proficiency) in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry and electrical work. Work may involve the following duties replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures and motors; using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings; repairing or replacing sinks, water coolers and toilets; painting structures and equipment; repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps and sidewalks; replacing damaged paneling and floor tiles; hanging doors and installing door locks; replacing broken window panes; performing general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in performing operation and maintenance tasks in a government or commercial office environment.
• EPA CFC Universal Certification preferred
• Be able to demonstrate practical knowledge of Plumbing, Refrigeration Equipment, Electrical and HVAC equipment
• General knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, drywall repair, mechanical maintenance, basic electricity and painting.
• Must be able to move/lift heavy objects, climb vertical ladders, work at heights and be proficient in the use of common hand and power tools.
May perform services from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms. Works with systems and equipment in hard-to-reach places require standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and climbing in tight and uncomfortable positions. Occasionally lift items up to 50 pounds. Work is performed inside and outside and is usually dirty and greasy.
