The HVAC Start-up Foreman provides project coordination and start-up services on various types of equipment within the industry, including troubleshooting and repair of commercial and industrial HVAC systems, as required. Perform tests on HVAC equipment and carefully documents acquired data to ensure the proper function of commissioned equipment.  Provide honest reporting and assessments to project representatives and customers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties will likely be assigned.

  • Have an excellent attitude towards safety and firm adherence to established safety protocols, including company operating policies, procedures, OSHA regulations, and safety training programs.
  • Interface with Project Managers and factory reps to schedule start-up of new mechanical equipment installed by Tucker Mechanical and its subcontractors.
  • Facilitate coordination of subcontractors for the purposes of start-up
  • Diagnoses of electrical and mechanical faults for HVAC systems
  • Install and repair air conditioning, heating and ventilation systems
  • Provide onsite video-recorded owner training as per project requirements
  • Familiar in the practice of adjusting, cleaning and repairing all major OEM system brands
  • Performs emergency repairs promptly and efficiently
  • Comply with company standards, work instructions and customer requirements
  • Coordinate collaboratively with the Field Labor Manager, Project Managers, and site Foreman for job planning and scheduling purposes
  • Maintain, organize and regularly clean assigned service vehicle
  • Prepared to work outdoors in all seasons of the year in varying weather conditions

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Completed Vocational or Trade School
  • Have and maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Have an excellent attitude towards safety and firm adherence to safety protocols
  • Ability to perform job tasks involving physical labor at heights in varying weather conditions
  • Must be comfortable using hand and power tools
  • Ability to read, understand and follow work order assignments/directives
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience as a Commercial Service Technician
  • CT S2 License
  • Consistently portrays a high level of professionalism towards customers, co-workers and vendors
  • Exhibits excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Confidently demonstrates mechanical aptitude and knowledge of HVAC and Boiler systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair boilers, roof top units, split systems, VRF systems, fan coils, air handlers, controls, VAV’s, etc
  • Fully understands electrical and refrigeration theory
  • Proficient in reading wiring schematics, drawings and work plans
  • Ability to work after hours and weekends in high-peak seasons
  • Must be self-driven, disciplined, and motivated
  • Must embody excellent organizational skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Bluebeam and ACC

Language Skills 

 

Must have the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in English, cooperate, and collaborate with multiple levels of management.

The employee regularly lifts and/or moves items up to fifty (50) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to travel to job sites within the servicing territory assigned by the company.

Field environments may vary based on project or weather conditions.  Working at heights over 50 feet in varying weather conditions. Weather conditions range from summer and below freezing in the winter. Weather conditions include wind, snow, rain and hot sun. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
