EMCOR Facilities Services has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Technician in Bethesda, MD (Tuesday – Saturday (6:00am – 2:30pm). The Technician will report daily to the EMCOR Site supervisor and support him/her to provide quality workmanship and high work standards to maintain a professional working environment. Primary responsibilities of this position are to be responsible for the facility maintenance needs at the facility and performing general maintenance and repairs of equipment as required. Knowledge of and capable of performing various general tasks assigned. Qualified applicant must be a US Citizen, possess a valid driver’s license and have at least 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in facilities maintenance and dealing with a wide range of general type services. Must possess a professional appearance, excellent customer service and communication skills.
| Communicates effectively with the Site Supervisor to determine the facility service needs. Coordinates and supervise client sub-contractors while performing service on site. |
Demonstrate the ability to proactively identify potential problems or opportunities, analyze issues using all appropriate resources, develop alternatives and arrive at the optimum approach to mitigate problems |
Repair and unclog toilets, urinals, replace and maintain valve assemblies and repair/maintain sensors for automatic flush kits, as well as all other plumbing related to the facility. Responsible for operation, maintenance and repair of air handling equipment at this facility such as vent fans and circulation fans. Carpet tile, ceiling tile replacement and painting of small areas as requested. |
Maintain a strict PM schedule. Maintain A/C and Heating equipment, change filters and clean coils as needed. |
Performs a wide variety of corrective maintenance work requests. General repairs, minor plumbing, carpentry and electrical needs such as light, receptacles, ballast and controls. |
Assist other skilled employees to perform projects as requested. |
Perform monitoring of the building automation computer system to ensure equipment is running and the building temperature conditions are in range. |
Education (HS Diploma, Under/Graduate Degree, etc.) | HS Diploma |
Business Experience (prior years work/related experience) | 3 – 5 years of experience related to commercial facility maintenance. |
Licenses/Certifications | Valid US driver’s license. Must be capable to be compliant with the client background check – Contractor Advantage prior to start. |
Language Skills | Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of organization. |
Technical Qualifications & Skills | Ability to perform various general type maintenance tasks. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence utilizing basic computer skills and ability to communicate via email and internet use. Must have to ability to perform all aspects involved with minor office reconfigurations. |
Excellent customer service and communication skills. Must have the ability to repair walls, floors, doors and any painting and touch up work for beautification of facility. |
Responsible for maintenance and repair of air handling equipment at this facility such as vent fans and circulation fans. Understanding of the fire, life, safety systems such as fire pumps, valves and alarm systems. |
Perform minor troubleshooting of equipment failure and possible remedies to mitigate down time. Must maintain a strict PM schedule to include various daily system inspections, A/C and Heating equipment, change filters, etc. |

Organization skills to maintain the client facility maintenance records, reports and manage their WO assignments by utilizing the clients CMMS. |

The ability to lift 50lbs, climb ladders and ability to walk the facility throughout the day are required. Have the ability to regularly kneel repetitively during shift. Have the ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis. Have the ability to work and maneuver on a variety of terrains along with assisting the team in snow removal/shoveling as necessary. Have the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. May be required to work in confined, restricted and hot areas. We are also responsible for snow removal and there are times in the Winter season when most of the day is spent outdoors in cold/snow conditions. Must be willing to work overtime when required. May at times be required to work holidays and non-business hours shifts.
Compensation Range: $28/hr - $35/hr
Other Compensation: this position is not bonus or commission eligible
