The lead mechanic will maintain plant equipment as prescribed by
the Maintenance Supervisor, working in a cooperative and safe manner.
Understands and complies with all state and federal OSHA safety regulations, such as Lock-Out Tag-Out, Confined Space Entry, etc.
Adheres to the site Safety Program.
Must have knowledge and skills with different hand tools and power tools.
Will be required to utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System
(CMMS) for planned maintenance, unplanned maintenance, and corrective repairs.
Must be able to add/complete work orders, track inventory, and add inventory to work orders.
Will be required to work with vendors and contractors on quotes for repairs and parts, and direct vendors and contractors when on site.
Have the knowledge and skills required to operate, maintain and repair installed equipment.
Must be able to schedule and prioritize repairs daily for Mechanical staff.
Must be familiar with, and remain familiar with, all aspects of the company's safety and environmental policies and practices. Must adopt work practices, which are consistent with the letter and spirit of these policies and participate to the fullest degree in programs aimed at increasing personal safety and environmental awareness.
Performance of additional duties or projects as assigned for career development i.e. safety training, equipment training and special projects as requested by the client and or plant management.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints to perform necessary maintenance and repairs
Able to perform alignments of pumps and motors up to 75HP.
Good communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members, understand instructions, and relay relevant information about equipment status or malfunctions.
Must have experience in the operation and maintenance of a steam facility. Experience with gas
and steam turbines along with chiller plant equipment is desirable.
Must be willing to learn the operation of Combined Heat and Power and Central Utility Plants,
including startup operations and maintenance of all installed equipment.
Must have a high school diploma, or equivalent comparable technical education, and/or 7 years
of documented work related experience.
Must have strong troubleshooting skills, and a thorough understanding of installed machinery
and equipment and the ability to recommend and make necessary repairs.
Must be willing to work overtime as required to maintain equipment reliability and up time.
Must be able to interpret system schematic diagrams and be able to troubleshoot systems and
equipment utilizing them.
Must beabletowork ina power plant in a university environment.
Experience with prioritizing and directing work is desirable.
