Job Summary

EMCOR Government Services has an opening for a Lead Electrician in McLean Virginia. The Lead Electrician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of medium and low voltage electrical fire alarm and sprinkler systems, switchgear, generators, breakers, UPS's, ATS's site lighting and miscellaneous electrical equipment systems at the site. Tasks will also include oversight of electrical subcontractors performing maintenance and minor construction functions in a variety of highly skilled and medium-skilled electrical trades support work. This position is covered by the CBA for Local 26.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervises a workforce comprised of electricians and fire alarm technicians.
  • Schedules the electrical PM testing and maintenance to all building electrical systems, to include emergency power and UPS, provides provides written reports or certifications upon completion of testing/maintenance. 
  • Provides daily direction, scheduling, instruction and inspection of electrical repairs completed at the site.
  • Notifies the customer concerning any work requiring an outage to complete with anticipated  problems that could occur should a problem develop during the outage.
  • Assists the Facility Manager in looking at new jobs for scope and technical understanding.
  • Assists the Engineering Supervisor in maintaining all mechanical and electrical systems in assigned properties.
  • Screens and interviews and selects applicants seeking employment at the site.
  • Researches and orders electrical parts and equipment.
  • Reviews shop drawings for planned space renovations and as-builts for completed work.  
  • Ensures that building common and electrical spaces are maintained in a neat, orderly and safe condition.
  • Carries out Company policies and procedures.

 

Qualifications

  • Valid Master Electrical license MD, DC or Virginia 

  •  5 years experience supervisory experience in a similar facility performing electrical support functions in office building and\or and data center environment.

  • 5 to 7 years experience operating and maintaining switchgear
  • 5 to 7 years experience operating and maintaining UPS systems and battery plants
  • 5 to 7 years experience operating and maintaining  paralleling gear and generators
  • Must process good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Organized and detail oriented, ability to learn quickly and prioritize work tasks

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance

     

     

Physical Demands

Must be able to move/lift heavy objects, climb vertical ladders, work at heights and be proficient in the use of common hand and power tools. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision
