This position is responsible for the safe operation, general maintenance, and repair of industrial refrigeration systems.
The Industrial Refrigeration Technician works for our service department along with dispatchers to accomplish preventative maintenance tasks, repair work orders, and work around production schedules. An Industrial Refrigeration Technician is required to complete all daily, weekly, and annual preventative maintenance tasks within a scheduled timeframe while maintaining and recording all required log sheets and history records. This position requires the use of judgment to determine the most efficient manner to safely complete the assigned projects and repairs.
• Install, inspect, and maintain industrial refrigeration systems, including ammonia (NH₃), CO₂, and Freon-based systems.
• Perform inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance on refrigeration equipment and critical components such as compressors, pumps, valves, motors, drives, pressure vessels, and PLC systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical components; test and calibrate instrumentation and safety devices.
• Conduct pre-startup safety reviews, process hazard analyses, and seasonal system preparations.
• Monitor system performance and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and reliability.
• Assist in installation and commissioning of new refrigeration systems and components.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, and repairs using digital tools.
• Respond to emergency service calls and participate in on-call rotation.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, IIAR, and company safety standards, including proper use of PPE.
• Collaborate with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams on upgrades, retrofits, and system reliability initiatives.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles in safe, organized conditions.
• Support inventory management of parts, tools, and supplies to ensure readiness for service calls.
• Communicate effectively with team members and participate in meetings and training for professional development.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians when needed.
• HS diploma or GED required, technical certification or associate’s degree preferred.
• 3+ years of experience with industrial refrigeration systems.
• RETA certifications (CRST and CRES) preferred.
• Ability to read schematics and P&ID drawings; proficient in Microsoft applications.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and travel within a 100-mile radius; on-call availability.
• Strong problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills.
• Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
• Tolerate cold environments
• Ability to lift 50 lbs., work in confined spaces and heights, stand/walk, and climb ladders for extended periods.

Compensation Range: $ 33.69 - $67.37. The hourly rate is determined by the CBA/rate sheet and test results. Benefits are provided through local labor union aligned with collective bargaining agreement.
