Job Title: Project Executive

 

Job purpose

 

The PX is responsible for the schedule, cost and quality of assigned Dynalectric Arizona projects. This includes the planning and coordination of all aspects of the construction process, including material and equipment buyout, field supervision management/coordination, hiring subcontractors, implementing cost control measures and reporting Work In Progress Reports.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Manage project financials

  • Create project budget (review project estimates for accuracy, make changes as needed, assign phases and cost codes)
  • Participate in estimate close-out and proposal creation.
  • Create schedule of values (coordinate with GC on phases/cost codes, frontload the job billings)
  • Identify and price cost/schedule impacts (receive daily logs from field supervision, evaluate/price the impact)
  • Responsible for change order negotiations (provide back-up/responses to GC, negotiate best rates for the company)
  • Schedule project kick-off & project close-out meetings to follow Dynalectric process.
  • Responsible for managing subcontractor scope of work (creating Requests for Proposal (RFP) and bid leveling, interview subcontractors, issue request for subcontract)
  • Responsible for managing for major purchases (creating Requests for Proposal (RFP) and bid leveling, interview vendors, issue request for PO’s, track vendor shipments and confirm onsite delivery dates.
  • Provide monthly cost projections at Work in Progress (WIP) meetings (walk project at the end of the month for percentage complete, take cost reports from accounting and enter in WIP’s software, project future costs, provide status of job at WIP meeting)
  • Oversee monthly progress billings (complete billing form and provide percentage complete for month end, provide backup/responses to GC)
  • Identify and resolve project issues (interpret cost reports to identify trends in performance factor, and address those issues with responsible parties)
  • Review and evaluate present and future opportunities, current and future strengths and weaknesses specific to Dynalectric industry opportunities.
  • Maintain and continue to build positive customer relations for Dynalectric.

 

Manage project team

  • Hire project support staff and define roles and responsibilities (fill out/maintain matrix of responsibility, interview candidates)
  • Ensure adherence to company health and safety standards (communicate with site safety professional/superintendent, report issues as needed to corporate Safety Director or General Superintendent)
  • Execute company HR processes (quarterly check-ins, annual reviews, coaching/counseling feedback, terminations)
  • Attend project meetings (schedule project kick-off meeting, attend internal Dynalectric meetings, other stakeholder meetings)

 

Manage contract documents

  • Participate in contract review and negotiation.
  • Implement and execute company processes for document control, Submittals, RFIs, and change order requests
  • Evaluate project drawings and specifications
  • Work with vendors, subcontractors and field personnel to provide O&M documentation, As-built drawings and resolve punch list items

 

Uphold company standards for Safety/HR

  • Ensure adherence to company health and safety standards (communicate with site safety professional/superintendent, report issues as needed to corporate Safety Director or General Superintendent)
  • Execute company HR processes (participate in quarterly check-ins, annual reviews, coaching/counseling feedback)

Qualifications

Qualifications include:

  • At least 10 years’ experience as electrical project manager
  • BSc/BA in construction management, electrical engineering, or relevant field experience.
  • Prior experience in managing project teams and assigning team members based on their experience and needs of the project.
  • In-depth understanding of electrical construction and materials.
  • Proficiency with accubid estimating software
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, MS word, MS projects & Bluebeam.
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a project manager to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

 

The PX is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

Mostly office-based. Typical working hours for a PX may vary. Generally Monday – Friday during normal business hours, but when deadlines approach they may be required to work much longer hours, including some weekend work. The PX in the field may be required to work out of the office and sometimes to stay away from home for short to long periods of time. Some travel may be required for training/continuing education.

 

While performing the duties of this job, the PX may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration; may be exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites (weather, noise, etc.).

 

The PX will oversee project coordinators, project engineers, assistant project managers, labor superintendents and general foreman.
