Job Summary

Miller Electric-The Field Layout Coordinator is responsible for executing and overseeing precise field layout
operations based on 3D models and digital construction plans. This role ensures the accuracy
and quality of layout deliverables while acting as a liaison between digital design and field
execution. The position involves mentoring team members, maintaining layout technology, and
ensuring compliance with safety and project standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform and supervise layout tasks using robotic total stations and GPS systems
  • Establish and verify control points, coordinates, and key construction elements
  • Align field layout with digital models and site conditions
  • Conduct accuracy checks and inspections to maintain dimensional tolerances
  • Enforce layout QA/QC standards and resolve discrepancies
  • Coordinate with PMs, engineers, surveyors, and field teams on layout needs
  • Provide feedback to design teams on field integration challenges
  • Operate and calibrate layout tools and software (e.g., Revit, Navisworks, robotic total stations)
  • Troubleshoot layout equipment and software integration issues
  • Train and guide junior layout staff on field layout techniques and best practices
  • Support continuous development and upskilling of team members
  • Record layout activities and as-built conditions
  • Maintain documentation for compliance and reference
  • Adhere to and enforce all safety protocols in field layout operations

Qualifications

  • Robotic Total Stations
  • GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System)
  • Navisworks
  • Bluebeam
  • Laser Scanners
  • Autodesk Construction Cloud
  • 5+ years in construction layout or related VDC/field engineering role
  • Strong proficiency with layout instruments and model integration
  • Technical certification in layout or surveying preferred
