Job Title: Sr. Project Manager

 

Job purpose

 

The Sr. Project Manager (SPM) directs all aspects of a project including financial oversight, design and scheduling, staff management and mentoring, contractor and vendor coordination, and general supervision.  The PM is responsible for the final outcome of a project and must be in tune with every phase to track progress and anticipate any necessary changes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Identify required resources to achieve project goals
  • Define project responsibilities for management, engineering and field staff
  • Prepare and supervise the preparation of Job Start and Project Closeout materials
  • Generate documentation for preliminary assessments, technical solutions, fee proposals, presentations, studies, and general support
  • Prepare and supervise the preparation of Logs and Reports including submittals, operation & maintenance manuals, expediting reports, change order log, RFI log, correspondence log, etc.
  • Transition project management and engineer activities from design to construction phase and construction to completion phase
  • Effectively communicate with all relevant outside parties, including the General Contractor, Architect, Engineer, Owner, and other stakeholders
  • Support and provide input to development strategies, goals, and objectives specific to project execution at each project phase
  • Assist the business development team by responding to requests for proposal and bid process
  • Develop and manage project plans, schedules and scopes of work
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive construction plan
  • Monitor project progress to anticipate potential problems
  • Assess site safety by implementing actions to prevent injury to property and personnel and ensuring safety compliance of subcontractors and all on-site personnel

 

Project Financial Management

  • Assume financial responsibility for project including accurate, timely and relevant reporting to stakeholders
  • Deliver accurate and timely data to support project forecasts
  • Monitor, control and report the financial performance of the project
  • Facilitate invoice payments from clients and to subcontractors
  • Review and approve subcontractor billings
  • Prepare client and subcontractor change orders
  • Draft subcontracts and purchase agreements
  • Monitor and proof change issue log.
  • Assess any potential job cost impacts. Submit, negotiate and track all change orders requests.
  • Document and resolve subcontractor and vendor billing issues
  • Review resources including contracts, drawings, specifications and other documents to answer questions in a timely manner
  • Oversee purchasing by ensuring all material and equipment is purchased in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Evaluate bid estimates, develop cost codes, establish definitive budgets, develop manpower plan with Superintendents, and monitor field labor progress

 

Project Team Management:

  • Coach and mentor project team members
  • Develop project staffing plans to include labor, subcontractors, etc.
  • Exemplify Dynalectric culture; communicate and influence policies and procedures.
  • Establish and lead associated meetings
  • Represent Dynalectric at after hour industry functions

Qualifications

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering or equivalent work experience required.
  • At least 10 years of progressively responsible project management experience
  • PE, CPM, LEED professional designations is preferred
  • Computer knowledge and efficiency, including Microsoft Office products
  • Estimating skills including knowledge of Accubid
  • Proficient with construction financial programs and software preferred.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of accounting and financial management preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of industry
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good math/accounting skills
  • Strong management skills
  • Functions effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to develop and/or maintain relationships with clients
  • Exhibit strong leadership qualities
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

 

The Sr. Project Manager is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

Field office-based, in a temperature-controlled environment. Typical working hours are Monday – Friday during normal business hours, but when deadlines approach they may be required to work much longer hours, including some weekend work.. Some travel may be required.

 

While performing the duties of this job, the Sr. PM may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration; may be exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites (weather, noise, etc.).

 

Some projects cover a wide geographic area. Requirements could include walking long distances and climbing stairs on a regular basis for field walks.
